What is blood money? By paying which Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya, who is imprisoned in Yemen, can be released

Preparations are underway to release Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya, who is imprisoned in Yemen. For this, the Indian government has approved blood money i.e. money transfer in relation to her release. Let us tell you that nurse Nimisha Priya is being released in exchange for blood money. But do you know what this blood money is and when it is used. Today we will tell you when blood money is used in Yemen.

Blood Money

Let us tell you that Islam has been declared the state religion in the constitution of Yemen. The legal system here is based on Islamic legal principles. However, there is a mention of blood money in this law. According to Islamic law, the victims of crime have the right to decide how the criminal should be punished. According to the information, there are two options for giving punishment. The first is Qisas, Qisas roughly means life for life. According to this, in the case of murder, the victim’s family can choose the punishment of giving death to the criminal. And the second is Diyah, it is also called blood money. According to this, the family of the deceased person can forgive the criminal by taking a sum of money from the family of the culprit.

What is the matter?

According to the information, Nimisha went to Yemen with her family a decade ago. There she started a hospital with Yemeni citizen Talal Abdo Mehdi. But in 2014, her husband and daughter returned to India. But due to work, Nimisha could not return. However, after some time a dispute started between Talal and Nimisha. During this time, Talal snatched Nimisha’s passport and kept it with himself. After this, when Nimisha complained about this to the authorities there, Talal told them that he is Nimisha’s husband. After which the authorities did not interfere again.

Nimisha needed a passport to return from Yemen. In such a situation, she planned to get Talal’s passport back by giving him an injection of anesthesia in July 2017. But Talal died in this. After which Nimisha hid Talal’s body with the help of another person. But after a few days the matter was revealed. Nimisha was arrested in this case and was sentenced to death. Whereas her accomplice has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

How much will be the blood money?

A Yemen lawyer appointed by the Indian Embassy will start the first round of talks and discussions by giving $ 40,000 to Nimisha Priya’s mother Prema Kumari and Action Council member Samuel Jerome. According to the information, Nimisha’s mother and Samuel Jerome have been living in Yemen for the last two months. According to the Statesman report, the amount of blood money will be decided only after the first round of talks. The Indian government is constantly keeping an eye on this matter.
